'PEOPLE OF COLOUR" is my first proper shoot, where I was able to not only style the model from head-to-toe, but creative direction was another element of this shoot I controlled and played around with. The phrase 'People Of Colour' is a general term used to describe a non-white individual. It is seen as a socially acceptable term to describe majority of the black population. Now, I am not one to accept this label fully, when you think of the phrase 'People Of Colour', in a literal sense, isn't white a colour? Therefore, why don't we call the white individuals, people of colour? This shoot is for my upcoming magazine called AFÈ magazine, which will be an online based magazine inspired by the African creatives and their culture, targeted towards a UK based audience. This shoot explores the word colour and what it means to me. Rather than looking at it as a racial label, I turned it on its' head and chose to play with colours, yes, actual colours.
